Weed and Feed  

Goal: Build lawn health and density with granular fertilizer first, then control broadleaf weeds for a lush, weed-free lawn.

Target: Home lawns or recreational turf with moderate broadleaf weed issues (e.g., bindii, clover, white clover)

Cycle: 6 weeks (Late Winter or Early Spring)

Week 1 (Fertilization):

·       TPG Enhance (Granular): Apply 2 kg/100 m² using a calibrated spreader. This stabilized-release fertilizer provides sustained nutrition, promoting lawn vigor and density to prepare for weed control. Water thoroughly (10–15 mm) with a sprinkler to activate granules and ensure nutrient uptake.

Week 3 (Weed Control):

·       Bow and Arrow Herbicide (Liquid): Mix 50 mL in 2–5 L water, apply over 100 m² using a sprayer with a flat fan nozzle. This herbicide (MCPA 300 g/L, clopyralid 20 g/L, diflufenican 15 g/L) targets broadleaf weeds like bindii, clover, creeping oxalis, white clover, plantain, capeweed, and cat’s ear. Apply when weeds are actively growing. Avoid mowing 3–4 days before and after to maximize leaf absorption.

Week 5 (Follow-Up Weed Control, if needed):

·       Bow and Arrow Herbicide (Liquid): For persistent weeds (e.g., creeping oxalis with bulbous roots), apply a second dose at 50 mL in 2–5 L water over 100 m². Skip if weeds are fully controlled. Avoid application if rain is expected within 4 hours or if lawn shows stress (e.g., yellowing).

Notes:

• Timing: Applying TPG Enhance first boosts lawn health, making it more resilient to herbicide application. The 2-week gap before Bow and Arrow protects new growth from potential herbicide stress, as juvenile grass can be sensitive.
• Safety: Bow and Arrow is safe for buffalo, kikuyu, couch, and ryegrass but may cause temporary yellowing in low-salt-tolerance grasses (e.g., kikuyu, ST85 buffalo). Test on a small area first. TPG Enhance’s slow-release formula minimizes burn risk.
• Watering: Water TPG Enhance thoroughly to activate; Bow and Arrow requires no watering-in but should not be applied before rain (within 4 hours). Follow local water restrictions.
• Results: TPG Enhance feeds the lawn for up to 12 weeks, supporting growth to fill weed gaps. Weeds may take 2–6 weeks to die, with smaller weeds fading faster.
